H763: Limit School Counselor Ratios. Latest Version

House
AN ACT to limit the number of students assigned to one school counselor.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 115C‑316.1 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
(c) To the extent funds are made available, public school units shall staff school counselors at a ratio of one counselor for every 300 students.
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law and public school units shall be in compliance by the end of the 2024‑2025 school year.
