AN ACT to require the department of transportation to install traffic control devices on selected priority interchange exits.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. The Department of Transportation is directed to install traffic control devices on selected priority interchange exits. For purposes of this act, selected priority interchange exits means those interchange exits the Department has determined, after analyzing statewide accident data and other relevant factors, have characteristics linked with increased risk of wrong way driving.
SECTION 2. No later than April 15, 2024, the Department shall submit a report to the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee on Transportation, the Senate Appropriations Committee on the Department of Transportation, and the Fiscal Research Division on the implementation status of this act.
SECTION 3. This act becomes effective July 1, 2023.
