AN ACT to appropriate funds for the renovation of the Fort Fisher Aquarium in New Hanover county.

Whereas, the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher has begun work on a comprehensive expansion and renovation project with a total cost of $30,500,000; and

Whereas, the State of North Carolina has previously appropriated $20,000,000 toward the project, leaving a balance of $10,500,000 in additional need to complete the project; Now, therefore,

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The sum of ten million five hundred thousand dollars ($10,500,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2023‑2024 fiscal year is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources to be allocated for the expansion and renovation of the Fort Fisher Aquarium in New Hanover County.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2023.
