AN ACT requiring the division of motor vehicles to study modifying license and license renewal application forms to include an option to provide or update emergency contact information.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Division of Motor Vehicles of the North Carolina Department of Transportation shall study and provide a plan to modify license and license renewal application forms by adding an option for the applicant to provide or update emergency contact information. The Division shall report its findings of this study, including any legislative recommendations, to the North Carolina General Assembly, the chairs of the Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee, and the Fiscal Research Division no later than January 1, 2024.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
