AN ACT to reduce the balance of school lunch debt.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction the sum of three million one hundred sixty‑six thousand six hundred dollars ($3,166,600) in nonrecurring funds for the 2023‑2024 fiscal year to satisfy any outstanding school nutrition program debt. Should this appropriation not be sufficient to satisfy all school nutrition debt by the end of the 2023‑2024 fiscal year, the State Board of Education shall use funds appropriated to the State Public School Fund for this purpose.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2023.
