AN ACT to require that the state auditor be a certified public accountant licensed to PRACTICE in this state.



The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:



SECTION 1.  G.S. 147‑64.6 reads as rewritten:



§ 147‑64.6.  Duties and responsibilities.



(a)        General Duty. – It is the policy of the General Assembly to provide for the auditing and investigation of State agencies by the impartial, independent State Auditor.



(a1)      Qualification. – The State Auditor shall be a certified public accountant licensed to practice in this State.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to elections held for State Auditor on or after that date.
