AN ACT to appropriate funds to extend the compensation grants portion of the stabilization grants for child care centers.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Child Development and Early Education (Division), the sum of three hundred million dollars ($300,000,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2023‑2024 fiscal year to extend the compensation grants portion of the child care stabilization grants, as authorized under Section 3.2(a) of S.L. 2021‑25, for child care centers. The Division shall expend all of the original federal funds provided for compensation grants before using State funds for this purpose.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2023.
