AN ACT to direct the state board of education to approve the charter school application submitted by american leadership academy – monroe.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding G.S. 115C‑218.1, 115C‑218.2, 115C‑218.5, or any other provision of Article 14A of Chapter 115C of the General Statutes to the contrary, the State Board of Education shall approve the application submitted by American Leadership Academy to operate a charter school in Monroe, North Carolina, beginning with the 2024‑2025 school year. The Board shall issue American Leadership Academy – Monroe a charter pursuant to this section, and the school shall operate pursuant to the requirements applicable to charter schools set forth in Article 14A of Chapter 115C of the General Statutes, including applying for renewal at the end of the charter granted pursuant to this section.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
