AN ACT appropriating funds for salary increases for employees of the department of labor, division of occupational safety and health, and for new compliance officer positions in the division.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Reserve for Compensation Increase the sum of five million three hundred sixty‑seven thousand four hundred twenty‑seven dollars ($5,367,427) in recurring funds for the 2023‑2024 fiscal year and the sum of five million three hundred sixty‑seven thousand four hundred twenty‑seven dollars ($5,367,427) in recurring funds for the 2024‑2025 fiscal year for salary increases and new positions in the Occupational Safety and Health Division of the Department of Labor (OSH). These funds shall be allocated as follows for each year of the 2023‑2025 fiscal biennium:
(1) $2,864,792 to provide a twenty percent (20%) salary increase for 121 current OSH compliance staff.
(2) $2,502,635 to establish and support 10 new OSH Health Compliance Officer I positions and 15 OSH Safety Compliance Officer I positions.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2023.
