AN ACT appropriating funds to the town of columbus for the construction of a water treatment plant and to the town of tryon to pay the remaining balance of a loan from the state to build an interconnected water system.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Town of Columbus the sum of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2022‑2023 fiscal year for the construction of a water treatment plant.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Town of Tryon the sum of seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2022‑2023 fiscal year to pay in full the remaining balance of a loan made by the State to the Town in 2012 for the purpose of building an interconnected water system. Since construction, the water system has failed to function properly and cannot be brought into operation without the expenditure of significant funds beyond those invested in the system to date.

SECTION 3.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2022.
