AN ACT to appropriate funds for Farmers Markets and food hubs.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The sum of one million dollars ($1,000,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2022‑2023 fiscal year is appropriated to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. These funds shall be used to provide emergency aid for farmers market operators and local food hubs to enable them to adapt to new market conditions and further support communities experiencing food insecurity. Eligible categories for emergency aid include, but are not limited to, labor, technology or software upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2022.
