S831: Opioid Overdose Prevention Act. Latest Version
2021-2022
AN ACT appropriating funds to the department of health and human services, division of public health, to purchase opioid antagonists for local health departments to distribute free of charge to north carolina residents.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, the sum of three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) in recurring funds for the 2022‑2023 fiscal year to be used to purchase opioid antagonists, as defined in G.S. 90‑12.7, for local health departments for the purpose of reversing opioid‑related drug overdoses and reducing the number of opioid‑related deaths. Each local health department that is a recipient of opioid antagonists purchased with funds appropriated in this section shall distribute opioid antagonists free of charge to North Carolina residents.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2022.
