AN ACT to appropriate funds to the western piedmont council of governments for a regional career center.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Office of State Budget and Management the nonrecurring sum of six million dollars ($6,000,000) for the 2022‑2023 fiscal year to provide a directed grant, as defined in Section 5.2 of S.L. 2021‑180, to the Western Piedmont Council of Governments (WPCOG) for expenditures relating to the expansion of the WPCOG offices and construction of a WPCOG regional career center. The funds appropriated in this act may be used for construction or expansion of a WPCOG facility, including associated and necessary planning, engineering, design, permitting, construction management, legal services, environmental assessment, and other work. Notwithstanding Section 5.2(b)(4) of S.L. 2021‑180, funds appropriated in this section do not revert but remain available to the WPCOG for the purposes provided herein.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
