AN ACT to APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR VARIOUS PROJECTS IN SWAIN and jackson COUNTies.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to Swain County the sum of eight hundred ninety thousand dollars ($890,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2022‑2023 fiscal year for the following projects:

(1)        $150,000 to remodel the Alarka Community Center.

(2)        $125,000 to purchase a brush truck for the Alarka Volunteer Fire Department.

(3)        $100,000 to replace hoses, nozzles, light tower, generator, and hose threads for the Alarka Volunteer Fire Department.

(4)        $500,000 to help build the Sylva/Dillsboro Pedestrian Bridge connecting the Monteith Park and Watkins Park greenways.

(5)        $15,000 to purchase a computer/printer and museum grade map rack for the Swain County Genealogical Society.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the North Carolina Community Colleges System the sum of three million dollars ($3,000,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2022‑2023 fiscal year to be allocated to Southwestern Community College as follows:

(1)        $500,000 for auditorium floor stabilization, building upgrades, and asbestos abatement at the Almond campus.

(2)        $2,500,000 for dental assistant equipment and supplies and workforce development, automotive, and welding trades career enhancements at the main campus in Sylva.

SECTION 3.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2022.
