S756: Bertie County Funds. Latest Version
2021-2022
AN ACT to appropriate funds for various needs for Bertie County.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to Bertie County the nonrecurring sum of one million three hundred thirty thousand eight hundred dollars ($1,330,800) for the 2022‑2023 fiscal year. Funds appropriated in this act do not revert but remain available to the county for the purposes allowed in this act. Of the amount appropriated in this section, the county shall use the following amounts in the following ways:
(1) One hundred thirty‑two thousand three hundred dollars ($132,300) for needed equipment and improvements at the Blue Jay Recreational Center.
(2) Nine hundred thousand dollars ($900,000) for planning and construction of a new county animal shelter facility.
(3) One hundred ninety‑eight thousand five hundred dollars ($198,500) for a drainage and flood control improvement project to relieve flooding and associated issues in the Long Branch community and the Town of Colerain.
(4) One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) for use in furthering the Affordable Housing for Teachers Initiative.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction the nonrecurring sum of eight million five hundred fifteen thousand dollars ($8,515,000) for the 2022‑2023 fiscal year to be allocated and used as follows:
(1) One million five hundred fifteen thousand dollars ($1,515,000) for Aulander Elementary School for new rooftop units and split systems, a new building automation system, replacement windows and exterior doors, and other improvements.
(2) Three million dollars ($3,000,000) for Bertie High School for software upgrades, cooling system repairs, and athletic facility replacements, upgrades, and repairs.
(3) One million one hundred thousand dollars ($1,100,000) for Bertie Middle School for new chiller equipment, HVAC repairs, and building automation system upgrades.
(4) Three hundred ninety thousand dollars ($390,000) for Colerain Elementary School for a new HVAC system and replacement windows and exterior doors.
(5) One million six hundred thirty thousand dollars ($1,630,000) for West Bertie Elementary School for a new HVAC system, a new automation system, and replacement windows and exterior doors.
(6) Eight hundred eighty thousand dollars ($880,000) for Windsor Elementary School for a new chiller and boiler, a new HVAC system, and replacement exterior doors.
SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law.
