A SENATE RESOLUTION relating to the appointment, nomination, and confirmation of James Jim Weaver as the STATE CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER and Secretary of the department of Information technology.
Whereas, pursuant to G.S. 143B‑9(a), the Governor shall notify the President of the Senate of the name of each person to be nominated as head of a principal State department; and
Whereas, each nomination is subject to senatorial advice and consent in conformance with Section 5(8) of Article III of the North Carolina Constitution; and
Whereas, a vacancy occurred when the State Chief Information Officer resigned; and
Whereas, under G.S. 143B‑9(a), the Governor is authorized to make an appointment to such a vacancy pending further action by the Senate; and
Whereas, the Governor has appointed James Jim Weaver to serve as the State Chief Information Officer and Secretary of the Department of Information Technology pending further action by the Senate; Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
SECTION 1. That the Senate shall hereby consider whether to confirm James Jim Weaver as the State Chief Information Officer and Secretary of the Department of Information Technology.
SECTION 2. This resolution is effective upon adoption.
