AN ACT to appropriate funds to create an assistant director position for the commission of indian affairs.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Administration, North Carolina State Commission of Indian Affairs, the sum of fifty‑five thousand dollars ($55,000) for each year of the 2021‑2023 fiscal biennium in recurring funds to create a full‑time assistant director position. The Commission shall use the additional position to assist the Executive Director in the day‑to‑day operations of the Commission and to help with the management of State and federal programs, administration of the State recognition program, and oversight of cultural preservation activities associated with the work of the Commission.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2021.
