AN ACT to change the method of filling vacancies on the winston‑salem/Forsyth County Board of education.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. Section 2(a)(5)(iv) of Chapter 112 of the Session Laws of 1961, as amended by S.L. 2013‑249, reads as rewritten:
(iv) Notwithstanding the provisions of G.S. 115C‑37(f), all All vacancies occurring during a term of office shall be filled by appointment by the remaining members of the Winston‑Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education for the unexpired term of the vacated seat.seat in accordance with G.S. 115C‑37.1.
SECTION 2. G.S. 115C‑37.1(d) reads as rewritten:
(d) This section shall apply only in the following counties: Alleghany, Beaufort, Brunswick, Carteret, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Dare, Davie, Forsyth, Graham, Guilford, Harnett, Hyde, Iredell, Lee, Madison, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Rutherford, Stanly, Stokes, Surry, Vance, Washington, and Yancey.
SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to vacancies on the Winston‑Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education occurring on or after that date.
