AN ACT amending the definition of an autocycle.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 20‑4.01 reads as rewritten:

§ 20‑4.01.  Definitions.

Unless the context requires otherwise, the following definitions apply throughout this Chapter to the defined words and phrases and their cognates:

(27)      Passenger Vehicles. –

b.         Autocycle. – A three‑wheeled motorcycle that has a steering wheel, pedals, seat safety belts for each occupant, antilock brakes, brakes that comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards, completely or partially enclosed seating that does not require the operator to straddle or sit astride, and is otherwise manufactured to comply with federal safety requirements for motorcycles.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective October 1, 2021.
