AN ACT to provide additional funds for the need‑based Scholarships for Students Attending Private Institutions of Higher Education.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina the sum of eleven million dollars ($11,000,000) in nonrecurring funds for each fiscal year of the 2021‑2023 fiscal biennium to be allocated to the State Education Assistance Authority for the purpose of awarding additional need‑based scholarships for students attending eligible private postsecondary institutions pursuant to Article 34 of Chapter 116 of the General Statutes.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2021.
