S525: NC Stop Human Trafficking Funds. Latest Version
2021-2022
AN ACT to appropriate funds to nc stop human trafficking.
Whereas, NC Stop Human Trafficking, a nonprofit organization, is actively working with community organizations to help abolish human trafficking; and
Whereas, NC Stop Human Trafficking collaborates with community organizations such as churches, civic groups, and other community groups to raise awareness of Human Trafficking, and to teach them how to identify human trafficking, with the goal of increasing referrals to the National Human Trafficking Hotline and improving victim response; and
Whereas, NC Stop Human Trafficking also introduces fair trade products into the local markets. The demand for more products free of forced labor will lessen human trafficking globally; and
Whereas, NC Stop Human Trafficking also advocates for stronger anti‑human trafficking legislation on both the State and federal levels; Now, therefore,
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to NC Stop Human Trafficking, a nonprofit organization, the sum of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) for the 2021‑2022 fiscal year to assist the organization in its efforts to abolish human trafficking.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2021.
