AN ACT amending the charter of the city of durham to authorize the city to reimburse nonmunicipal utility owners for utility relocation costs in the amount of THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS or more without complying with the state's contracting laws.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Chapter VII of the Charter of the City of Durham, being Chapter 671 of the Session Laws of 1975, as amended, is amended by adding a new section to read as follows:

Sec. 128. Reimbursement to nonmunicipal utility owners for relocation costs.

The City is authorized to reimburse nonmunicipal utility owners for utility relocation costs in the amount of thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) or more without complying with the requirements of Article 8 of Chapter 143 of the General Statutes.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
