AN ACT to appropriate funds for the restoration of the historic orange street school building in fayetteville and the historic spring lake civic center BUILDING in spring lake.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Orange Street School Restoration and Historical Association, Inc., a nonprofit organization, the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2021‑2022 fiscal year to support its Restoration and Upgrade Project for the historic Orange Street School building. The 1915 historic Orange Street School building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is Fayetteville's oldest surviving building used for education.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Sandhills Family Heritage Association, a nonprofit organization, the sum of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2021‑2022 fiscal year to renovate and restore its historic Spring Lake Civic Center building, which was built in 1945. The rehabilitated facility will serve as a meeting space, feature displays and tours centered around the history and culture of African Americans in the Sandhills area, provide housing for SFHA programs and activities, and allow the building to return to serving as a hub for community engagement and development.

SECTION 3.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2021.
