A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring the life and memory of efton medford sager, former member of the House of Representatives.



Whereas, Efton Medford Sager was born on June 10, 1933, in Galena, Missouri, to Arthur and Edna Jones Sager; and



Whereas, after graduating from Pierce City High School in 1950, Efton Medford Sager joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 21 years and retired as a Master Sergeant; and



Whereas, Efton Medford Sager was active in his community, serving in many capacities of various organizations, including as a member of the American Legion Post 10, Goldsboro Masonic Lodge #634, Gideon's International, Disabled American Veterans, Chair of the Wayne County Red Cross, and President of the Eastern Carolina Council of Government; and



Whereas, Efton Medford Sager served as a Wayne County Commissioner from 2000 to 2008. He went on to represent District 11 with honor and distinction in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2009 to 2013. He also served as a board member for the Southern Wayne Sanitary District; and



Whereas, Efton Medford Sager was a devoted member of the Brogden Church, where he served as chair of the pastor/parish relations committee; and



Whereas, Efton Medford Sager was respected, admired, and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him; and



Whereas, Efton Medford Sager died on May 27, 2025, and was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Parsons Sager, parents, and sister Imogene Harris; and



Whereas, Efton Medford Sager is survived by his children, David Arthur Sager (Catherine) and Debra Ann Kornegay (David); two grandchildren, Jacob David Kornegay and LeeAnn Sager Meyer; and two great grandchildren, Jaxon Meyers and Charles David Kornegay; Now, therefore,



Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:



SECTION 1.  The House of Representatives honors the life and memory of Efton Medford Sager and expresses its appreciation for the service he rendered his community, State, and nation.



SECTION 2.  The House of Representatives extends its deepest sympathy to the family of Efton Medford Sager for the loss of their beloved family member.



SECTION 3.  The Principal Clerk shall send a copy of this resolution to the family of Efton Medford Sager.



SECTION 4.  This resolution is effective upon adoption.
