A HOUSE RESOLUTION urging Congress to support Jewish citizens and take all necessary steps to curtail and criminalize antisemitic acts as a response to unprovoked attacks.

Whereas, on June 1, 2025, Mohamed Sabry Soliman armed with a makeshift flamethrower and other incendiary devices launched a terrorist attack on peaceful demonstrators in Colorado who were calling for the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza; and

Whereas, innocent people peacefully demonstrating support for Israel have been injured as a result of this hate crime; and

Whereas, the United States has seen an increase in antisemitic attacks and violent pro‑Palestinian protests following the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel; and

Whereas, Israel and the United States of America are close friends and allies thanks to the partnership between our two countries lasting over 75 years, built on mutual interests and shared democratic values; and

Whereas, this body has demonstrated support for Israel in a number of ways, including (i) House Resolution 894, 2023 General Assembly, recognizing Israel's 75th anniversary as a nation; (ii) House Resolution 897, 2023 General Assembly, urging support for Israel in the wake of the Hamas attack; and (iii) House Bill 942, 2023 General Assembly, enacting the Shalom Act that adopted the definition of antisemitism that is recognized by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance; and

Whereas, it is the duty of a civilized State to recognize, be outraged by, and condemn acts of hatred, especially where, as here, it is directed toward a nation, people, and culture that has endured decades of persecution and mistreatment; Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

SECTION 1.  The United States Congress is urged to take any and all necessary steps to criminalize and prohibit acts that perpetrate harm and injustice to members of the Jewish faith and supporters of the nation of Israel and bring justice on behalf of those who have been unlawfully kidnapped and held hostage by Hamas following the unprovoked attack on innocent civilians in Israel.

SECTION 2.  This resolution is effective upon adoption.
