AN ACT DESIGNATING the first sunday of june of each year as children's day in north carolina.
Whereas, children represent the future and embody the hopes and aspirations of the people of North Carolina; and
Whereas, investing in the health, education, and well‑being of our children is paramount to ensuring a prosperous and sustainable society; and
Whereas, recognizing the importance of nurturing and protecting our children encourages communities, families, and organizations to collaborate in creating safe and supportive environments; and
Whereas, celebrating Children's Day provides an opportunity to acknowledge the achievements and potential of all children, regardless of their background or circumstances; and
Whereas, such a day serves to raise awareness about the challenges and issues facing children today, including access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for personal growth; and
Whereas, the State of North Carolina is committed to promoting policies and initiatives that support the development and well‑being of its youngest residents; Now, therefore,
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. Chapter 103 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new section to read:
§ 103‑19. Day of the child.
The first Sunday of June of each year is designated as Children's Day in North Carolina.
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law.
