H867: Crisis Intervention Training LEO Grants. Latest Version
Session: 2023 - 2024
AN ACT to appropriate funds to create a grant program to award funds to towns, cities, and counties to fund crisis intervention training for first responders.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Safety the sum of five million dollars ($5,000,000) in recurring funds in the 2023‑2024 fiscal year to be used to award grants to towns, cities, and counties to fund crisis intervention training for any of the following positions:
(1) Law enforcement officers.
(2) Firefighters.
(3) Paramedics and other emergency medical personnel.
(4) Emergency telecommunicators and other emergency medical dispatchers.
(5) Veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
SECTION 2. The Department shall develop the grant program required by Section 1 of this act and shall establish program guidelines. No town, city, or county shall be awarded a grant of more than fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) in a calendar year.
SECTION 3. This act becomes effective July 1, 2023.
