The Governor has vetoed the horrible elections bill HB 958.

Please thank Governor Stein for vetoing this bill that would make it harder for voters to have their ballots counted and would give politicians more influence over election administration. Some of its provisions are:

👉 Grants the Republican State Auditor the ability to pick and hire outside counsel instead of using the Attorney General to handle election litigation.
👉 Significantly raises dollar thresholds for required reporting of campaign finance, and waives reporting requirements entirely in some cases
👉 Adds new requirements for signature and Social Security number verification.
👉 Shortens early voting from 17 days to 10 days.
👉 Changes up to 7 professional staff at the State Board of Elections from career civil staff to partisan political appointees.
👉 Gives candidates and officials new ways to challenge votes after elections have already taken place.

Governor Stein was right to veto this bill to protect our vote.
